Nutan’s Early Life and Career
Nutan was born in a Marathi family on June 4, 1936; she was the eldest child among the four to the director and poet Kumarsen Samarth and wife Shobhna. Besides, she had two sisters, actress Tanuja and Chatura, and a brother named Jaideep. Nutan was good at swimming, horse riding, badminton, and driving cars.
Moreover, Nutan Samarth officially started her career at the age of 14 in the movie Hamari Beti in 1950, her mother directed. At that time, her parents got separated. Nutan’s mother trained her in facial expressions, and the public praised her for outstanding performances. Furthermore, after the completion of Hamari Beti, Nutan got admission to La Chatelaine, a finishing school in Switzerland. Nutan married Lt. Commander Rajnish Behl on October 11, 1959. Her mother introduced them both. Together they had one son named Mohnish Behl, who was born in 1961.
Moreover, Mohnish is also a film and television actor, and Mohnish’s daughter Pranutan Behl is a Bollywood actress. She is Nutan’s granddaughter.
Besides, Nutan was fond of hunting and singing as she got training in classical music during her college days. In 1990, Nutan was diagnosed and treated for breast cancer. Later, in 1991 she was hospitalized in Breach Candy hospital in Mumbai; even at that time, she was working on the movies Garajna and Insaniyat. Unfortunately, she lost the battle against this deadly disease and died on February 21, 1991, at 54.
